The “UniversAI: Exploring the Universe with AI” symposium of the International Astronomical Union, was successfully hosted by Harokopio University of Athens from June 2 to 6, 2025.
More than 120 distinguished scientists from 41 countries participated in the symposium’s proceedings, representing the global research community. This event marked the first interdisciplinary symposium of the IAU, aiming to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration between the fields of Astronomy and Computer Science, with a view to developing new cross-sectoral synergies and scientific communities.
The scientific programme featured high-level presentations delivered by internationally acclaimed researchers. In parallel, a series of outreach activities open to the general public took place, supported by the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach in Greece, in collaboration with the National Observatory of Athens.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the week was the stargazing night at the Harokopio University courtyard, with guest stars… the Starlink satellites!
