Harokopio University of Athens proudly announces the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with two leading US academic institutions: Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell). These agreements mark the successful outcome of an official visit to the United States by the Rector of Harokopio University, Professor Georgios Dedousis. The visit forms part of the University’s strategic plan to enhance its international outlook and global recognition. During his trip, the Rector held bilateral meetings with academic entities, research centers, and prominent members of the Greek diaspora in Boston and Chicago. These contacts successfully established the foundations for meaningful, long-term institutional collaborations with prestigious American universities.
Partnership with Tufts University
The first Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Tufts University, a globally renowned institution at the forefront of Nutrition and Public Health. This partnership aligns perfectly with the academic profile and research priorities of Harokopio University. The agreement, signed by Rector Professor Georgios Dedousis and Tufts University Provost Caroline Genco, establishes a solid framework for joint research and educational initiatives, focusing on nutritional sciences and public health, while fostering the exchange of cutting-edge expertise.
Collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Lowell
The second Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, a distinguished public research university. In the context of preliminary discussions, the Rector met with Joseph C. Hartman, Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic & Student Affairs, to explore potential synergies at the graduate and research levels.
The final agreement was signed by Rector Professor Georgios Dedousis and Dr. Noureddine Melikechi, Interim Provost of UMass Lowell. This MoU provides for institutional faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, the mutual exchange of scientific documentation and research material, as well as exploring the development of joint or double degree programs.
