Official Visit of the Rector of Harokopio University of Athens to the University of Bern | Strengthening Strategic Cooperation and Implementing the Joint MSc collaboration

On 19 February 2026, the Rector of Harokopio University of Athens, Professor Georgios Dedousis, conducted an official visit to the University of Bern, where he held a high-level working meeting with the Rector, Professor Virginia Richter. The visit took place within the framework of further reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two institutions and advancing the development of the Joint Master’s Programme currently under preparation. The meeting built upon the established institutional collaboration between Harokopio University of Athens and the University of Bern, following the signing of a General Memorandum of Understanding in April 2025.

Discussions focused on the systematic enhancement of bilateral cooperation at the institutional level and on the coordination of the forthcoming academic and administrative steps necessary for the implementation of their joint initiatives. Particular emphasis was placed on the expeditious completion of the procedures leading to the signing of the Cooperation Agreement and on ensuring the timely and rigorous preparation of the Joint Master’s Programme entitled MSc Digital Health: Nutrition, Environment and Machine Learning Technologies”.

The parties further reaffirmed their intention to conclude a specific Collaboration Agreement, which will define in detail the academic framework, scope, governance arrangements, and operational modalities of the joint Programme. The Agreement is expected to be signed between the School of Health Science and Education and the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of Harokopio University and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern, thereby providing the formal institutional foundation for the development and delivery of the Programme.

In addition, the two Rectors explored broader avenues for collaboration in education and research, including the development of joint academic and scientific initiatives of strategic and long-term significance.

Through its steadfast commitment to internationalization and its strategic engagement in high-level academic partnerships, Harokopio University continues to strengthen its international presence and to generate meaningful opportunities for students and researchers within the evolving global academic landscape.
