Launch of Harokopio University’s first english-language Undergraduate Program marks historic collaboration with SUNY Empire State University!

Harokopio University of Athens and State University of New York (SUNY) Empire State University have signed a Memorandum of Agreement of historic significance, inaugurating the first English-language undergraduate program in Harokopio University’s history.

The agreement was signed in October 2025 by the Rector of Harokopio University, Professor Georgios Dedousis, and the President of Empire State University, Professor Lisa Vollendorf. This collaboration with SUNY Empire State University constitutes an important step for Greek higher education, positioning Harokopio University as an active participant in the international academic community alongside a leading U.S. institution within the SUNY system.

The English-language program, offered by the Department of Informatics and Telematics of Harokopio University of Athens, School of Digital Technology, will provide students with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s degree, recognized both in Greece and the United States. Graduates will receive degrees and transcripts from both universities, joining their respective alumni networks.

Additionally, the agreement establishes a Joint Research Institute at Harokopio University of Athens, serving as a center of excellence and international collaboration, further strengthening the academic ties between the two institutions.

Both presidents noted that this partnership not only enhances Harokopio University’s position in the global academic landscape but also merges two strong academic traditions, aiming to educate globally-minded citizens with knowledge, values, and vision.

This agreement marks a new chapter in strategic development and internationalization, solidifying Harokopio University’s leadership in modern, globalized higher education and reinforcing its commitment to technological and research innovation.
